Footsteps Previously Taken
“There is very little from my childhood that physically remains; most places now only exist as  reverent
memories..this place is one of them; the San Jacinto Monument.  It was a
regular destination with my grandparents when they just wanted to get
out and go for a ride…which was all the time.  I grew up in a car,
always going somewhere, always in motion, never settled. The Monument
calls out to me..it houses cherished reminiscences of my Mama and Papa,
both now gone.” V. L. Mobley
